Cane architecture, 2020 onwards.

Experiments and studies in cane weaving starting in 2020. My first pieces were flat work as you would find in furniture. I later progressed to looking at how this surface treatment would work on a curved frame or three dimensional form.

The development of this work explores the shapes of buildings that have been removed from their original context, either, as in the case of the Edinburgh tenements, by the original surrounding buildings having been demolished, or by the building itself being lost to demolition.
